Science Through the Lens of a Camera...Using Digital Media to Enhance the Vocabulary of English Language Learners Region 4 Education Service Center, Houston, TX, February 20, 2010 - Participants explore innovative ways to employ digital and print media to enhance science vocabulary and key concepts to English Language Learners. Customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources.

 

ACP (Alternative Certification Program) Curriculum Week – Cooley Center, Houston, TX, July 20, 21, 23, 24, 2009 – Presentation to ACP interns on instructional strategies, ESL/GT modifications, model lesson demonstrations, and best practices in the science classroom.

 

Teaching Science Using Digital MediaSouthmayd Elementary, Houston, TX, March 27, 2009 – Presentation to faculty on how to make lessons engaging and how to check for understanding of concepts by using photographs and video clips.

 

ABRAZO Life Science Training – Hattie Mae White Administration Building, Houston, TX, January 26, 2009 and February 2, 2009 - Life Science: Animals and Plants on Display.  How to make your lessons engaging by using plant and animal specimens.  Participants will also have access to a TAKS review packet that covers nature of science, physical science, earth science, and life science.

á      Manage and implement the technological requirements of online courses, masters, archives, enrollments, and deferrals, so that pre-service educational specialists can develop, facilitate, present, and evaluate online pre-service training for alternative certification program participants.

á      Assist in the development of eLearning curricula and courses, providing artistic direction to faculty content experts to develop effective content and course designs.


Full Time Mentor Teacher, Houston ISD, Houston, TX, July 2009 – March 2010

á      Plan and provide technical and curriculum assistance for beginning teachers and schools.

á      Develop and present professional development sessions appropriate to the needs of the beginning teachers throughout the school year.

Earth Science Summer Camp, Benavidez  Elementary, Houston, TX, June 9-27, 2008

Taught selected 4th graders entering 5th grade for the 2008-2009 school year.  The summer camp focused on earth science.  The curriculum included hands on experiences, as well as field trips and field experiences.
